So I quit my job, what’s next?

July 1, 2019

I did quit my job…

Hello Everyone! First of all, thank you for swinging by my site. I am happy to say it feels soo good to quit my 9-5 job and start something which I am really passionate about. So I have decided to start this website as a stepping stone to those who are still in the “wondering stage” of whether “I should quit my job and start something of my own” or “I am going to be my own boss or not?”. With this site, I hope to take you on a journey on how to be financially independent and how to become a location independent entrepreneur and most of all on how to BYOB – Be Your Own Boss. I will be testing out on various strategies(of course legal) of becoming self-employed and making passive income just from your home or even traveling.

I will be posting full progress on all my projects and the feedbacks and outcomes of all the strategies I have used. By doing so I will allow you to follow my progress and learn from that if you wish to do so. This website will also be an observatory for those who do not want to take the leap yet but to see actually whether the strategies mentioned by everyone on the internet are working for them or not. So stay tuned for an amazing set of articles on how to make passive income online and also on how to build a home-based business or how to become a digital nomad. My goal is to do one article every day covering my activities and progress and also a video on youtube every week or so as I am planning on spending 2-3 hours/day dedicated to this project. This website would also contain about my travels as well as about the tools that I would be using during this project.

So, then how to?

To answer this question I went on researching about making your online business for so long. Tried many projects and tactics which really didn’t give me the results I wanted. There are many ways out there to make a passive income monthly. There are many people on different blogs and different platforms selling courses and sharing tutorials on how to make a passive income, making money online and so on. And I have been following these self-proclaimed influencers, YouTubers, Instagrammers, bloggers, digital nomads throughout the past few months to see whether it actually works. I wanted answers “Can I actually build a successful business online?”. Can I quit my job tomorrow and start on building my business just like that. So I went and bought some of these courses by these professionals which explain and elaborate on how to make passive income and so on to see whether it actually works! I will be sharing all my knowledge with regards to this so you don’t have to waste your time on expensive courses and coaching programs.

Is it actually possible to quit your job and be your own boss?

Before you go on being overwhelmed about handing over your resignation letter tomorrow, let’s do some due diligence on whether you are ready for it! As the topic goes on, making money online or becoming a digital nomad is not for everyone. Just because you are good at computers or you are good at taking your phone around and making videos, or even you are good at posting stuff on social media and good at writing long articles doesn’t make you eligible to become a digital entrepreneur or a passive income earner. It takes a lot of courage, patience, motivation and also persistent to make it work online. True that you and I are making free content for social media and online platforms on a daily basis if you are an avid user of them. It would be great if you can really monetize that little Instagram post you do with your bikini on OR the beautiful poem you wrote and shared on Facebook OR even your average weekly blog post about your trip to Sri Lanka 😉 Building a business online is 50% about building good content and around this you can start building your business.

Can I start making money tomorrow?

The worst mistake most people do is that they think they can be rich overnight or start making money overnight. Therefore many people start doing “passive income programs” which are readily available online and fail miserably in getting results and then be really disappointed in themselves and also start losing faith in becoming an entrepreneur. As I mentioned before, being an Entrepreneur is a hands-on thing. You need to get hands-on experience in each stage of being an entrepreneur. At the end of the day, it is also about having fun doing what you love to do and also making some money on the side so you can live a comfortable life. So when you pick your niche for your online business, make sure you pick a niche that you love to work on and you will really start enjoying your life. I will be talking further about how to pick a niche that you are interested in another article.

Choose a niche you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life – BYOB

What methods or strategies you can use to making a passive income?

After months of research(literally months I researched on these topics) I have mainly locked on to 3 areas as I experienced that these areas are making more sense and also seem to be working than the other blackhat and white hat methods so many people are mentioning all over the internet. You can see me working on my 3 projects as I do it. The topic  I would be mainly focussing on this website would be as follows.

  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Drop Shipping
  • Youtube Channel

So what’s next?

So as a first step, I will be going to pick my niches and start building my business models around it. I will be brainstorming about the niches that I would love to be engaged in at least the next 2-3 years and build the websites/social media channels around them

So keep in tuned to see as to how my projects would be working and also I will be sharing my experiences, tricks, and tweaks which I learned while doing these projects.
